In Flat Pack we will find more than thirty different levels, including some in which we will have to see the faces with colossal ‘bosses’. With what we will always have to deal with, however, it will be with traps, blocks in movement, and many other dangers. Flat Pack is a very original platform game, reminiscent of titles of the caliber of Fez or A Link Between Worlds. And as usual in the Nitrome studio, it has a charming visual section and outstanding production values.

Outlook for Mac has long supported connecting to and managing your Gmail. With these updates, Outlook will now also sync your Google Calendars and Contacts. The experience will be very similar to what you are familiar with in Outlook today, with support for all the core actions—such as add, delete, edit time and location. I tried the solution suggested by mhostrow last week after installing Office for Mac 2011. It worked fine the first time, and correctly showed all Outlook contacts in my Android phone contacts. But, after a day or two, with no changes to any contacts, I keep getting a huge number of 'Synch Alert changes' to be applied back from Google via Apple iSynch. Whatever you do, don't accept this - it will totally modify your Outlook contacts and create considerable headaches. The only solution I've found so far is to delete, then reload the entire Outlook contact list from a backup, and start over again - not an appealing, efficient, 21st century way to synch to a mobile device. Since I only change my contacts in Outlook 2011 for Mac, never in Apple Address Book or with my Android phone, I have no idea why this is happening, other than software issues. I called Verizon tech support, MSoft Office 2011 Mac tech support, and spent several hours with each on this problem last week, trying to figure out how to get synch to work, to no avail. Google employees in forums seem to indicate no current plan to support until a large number of users appear/are affected. SInce I run my small business using these tools with MAC, Office, and Android based smartphones, I cannot wait for them to fix this. Last but not least, if you don't use Microsoft Exchange (think middle size to large companies), I understand the synch, calendar and other features in Outlook 2011 and Contacts tabs (Organization and Details) show error messages, and are not supported. My outlook somehow synced with my google contacts. How can I make this stop. I can't find anything that even says that I'm synced with google untill a sync alert comes up that says 'syncing with google contacts will change more than 25% of your contacts or groups on this computer.' It wont let me stop the sync it just gives me the option to sync now or sync later. This is very annoying, it happens about 6 or 7 times throughout the day. I've even turned off sync services completely and it still gives me the sync alert message. I don't want my personal contacts on my computer and I really don't want all of my work contacts on my phone. Please tell me how to make this stop. I'm running Mac osx 10.6.4 and I just noticed that Address Book is also synced with both my google account as well as my exchange account at work. Again I've never told it to sync so I'm not sure how this has all happened. Any thoughts? Bill_C2010, 8:55 น. With the introduction of Outlook 2011 for Mac, many Mac users are asking the burning question around how to sync Outlook 2011 for Mac with the native Mac Address Book. This is especially relevant as many users now sync their mobile phone contacts (Blackberry, Android, iPhone) with the native Address Book contacts manager. For example, RIM’s Desktop Manager for Mac syncs with iCal and the Address Book and relies on Sync Services to sync with Outlook 2011 contacts. If you will now be managing your contacts inside Outlook, you will need a way to sync these contacts back to the native Address Book. This is also true if you are using Scrubly to clean up your Address Book contacts. You will need to turn on Sync Services inside Outlook to sync your newly cleaned up contacts from Address Book to Outlook Contacts. Follow the steps below. Before we begin, you should note that Outlook 2011 will sync contacts from Address Book, and you can sync e-mail accounts with Mail. However, Outlook 2011 won’t sync events or tasks from iCal (in part because Microsoft’s primary design goal with Outlook was to make it work with Exchange). Outlook 2011 also does not support CalDAV. Setting up Sync Services for Mac: 1. What is Docker? Docker is the next step on long IT containerization way. What does it mean? Years ago, you could run each application/process in particular container, that application couldn’t go outside the container which it was run. Docker CE for Mac is an easy-to-install desktop app for building, debugging, and testing Dockerized apps on a Mac. Docker for Mac is a complete development environment deeply integrated with the Mac OS Hypervisor framework, networking, and filesystem. Docker for Mac is the fastest and most reliable way to run Docker on a Mac. Any operating systems such as mac OS El Capitan or above are supported by Docker. However, macOS High Sierra resolved majority of the issues encountered from the earlier version of macOS. It was very safe but difficult to manage and not sharable. So you couldn’t easy share your container to other machine or to other developers to reuse for example by open source community. So, that solution was a little bit complicated and worked only on Linux. Today we have Docker, which allows you to run containers on all operation systems. What is important, this tool is not only modern but also easy to manage and easy to share to others developers. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Other ways to install it In this post, I want to show you how to install Docker by using brew which installation process I wrote last time. For me, it’s the easiest and safest way. But there are a few other possibilities to install it on Mac OS. Docker.com – first method First what you have to do is to go to Docker website and just download and run the.dmg file. This is probably the easiest way, but unfortunately not the best. Using native install method you don’t have to install VirtualBox to run Linux, but sharing files between your Mac OS and systems in containers are really slowly. I can recommend that solution only if you want to test something or your project doesn’t use a framework with a lot of files. Docker Toolbox – second method It’s an app provided by Docker Company for Mac OS and Windows. The special feature in this toolbox is the requirement for VirtualBox, which will be a supervisor to run Linux. So, Docker is available as another machine in Docker environment. This toolbox contains also docker-compose (more below) and Kinematic, which allow you to manage your container by using GUI than a command line. Install I guess you have installed brew if not just follow this page and do everything that I’ve described. If you are ready, open your terminal and type something like this: brew install docker docker-compose docker-machine xhyve docker-machine-driver-xhyve If you have done it that you’ve received notice that docker-machine-driver-xhyve has to run as root, so you have to execute that commands: sudo chown root:wheel $(brew --prefix)/opt/docker-machine-driver-xhyve/bin/docker-machine-driver-xhyve sudo chmod u+s $(brew --prefix)/opt/docker-machine-driver-xhyve/bin/docker-machine-driver-xhyve Both commands will ask you for a password. Don’t worry to type it in a command line. If everything goes ok then you can create your first docker machine, just type this command: docker-machine create default --driver xhyve --xhyve-experimental-nfs-share This command, as you suppose, creates a docker machine, using the xhyve driver. --xhyve-experimental-nfs-share – this flag allows you to share each file in your /Users/ folder between Mac OS and Linux run on Docker. Because you can have a lot docker machine, you can type this command in your terminal: eval $(docker-machine env default) It registers a few variables, which allow you to use default docker machine without typing “default” each time. Useful tools Probably, you’ve noticed that with docker you installed also docker-machine and docker-compose. These tools are not required but they are the strength of docker. Docker-machine This tool allows you to prepare a lot of docker machines on your Mac OS, so you can have a lot of containers on many Linux distributions. You can dump all available commands just by typing docker-machine --help but most likely you will use three of them: docker-machine start default docker-machine stop default docker-machine restart default I guess I don’t have to describe what exactly this commands do. It’s so obvious. One thing you need to know, if something goes wrong, just try to restart your docker machine. Docker-compose The main goal of docker: you can write like this “one process = one container”, but each app requires a lot process it could be a PHP, HTTP server, some database etc. Of course, you can run containers for each process manually, which is not a big deal with 3 containers, but trust me it escalates very fast, so you need an easy tool to manage your container and to manage the dependencies because one container can require access to another container. To install System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac, follow these steps: Note Running two antivirus programs on the same computer can cause performance problems and system instability. Uninstall any antivirus software that is currently installed on your computer before you install System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac. System Center EndPoint Protection (A/V). If you are using SCEP on a mac running Sierra or below, SCEP should be uninstalled, and the operating system updated to the latest version of macOS. Windows Clients: UC Berkeley recommends the use of the built-in Windows Defender for Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 computers. Chad, Looking online at Microsoft it appears that the Mac and Linux client support for SCEP 2012 was a separate add-on provided later than the original release and delivered through the Volume Licensing Center rather than the main support channel for SCEP itself. What this says to me is that it may be difficult to find a direct answer to this question via any of the normal support sites like the TechNet forums as well, since the support may not be via these typical channels either. What I'd do is to look in the documentation which according to the notification for the Mac/Linux client release was included with those Endpoint clients themselves. There may be some indication there where support for these could be found, which I suspect might be via the Volume Licensing Center itself? If there's nothing there, then the best location to ask would be the TechNet forum(s) for System Center 2012, since those are for the business products since these Community forums are only intended for consumer products and so are manned by either volunteers like us or a handful of 1st level support technicians from other countries. Few of these even know what System Center is and even I had a very difficult time finding the little information I did about the SCEP for Mac client release, even though I've personally been involved with administering networks including Windows and using Microsoft websites to support them for nearly 25 years now. Looking at the MVLS site, the latest SCEP for Mac is Current Branch 1602. I tried to install this on a Vanilla macOS 10.12 machine and received a warning about the product only being compatible with 10.6 - 10.11. I ignored the warning and installed anyway and my test mac hit a world of hurt - SCEP errors frequently and the machine became increasingly unresponsive. Using the uninstall script still left the machine in a near unusable state. Re-installed Sierra and this time used a different security product, and now everything seems to be fine. MS you really need to get ahead of the game with SCEP support for new macs. Hi Everyone, I am in the same boat as Chad: my university requires that we run an antivirus program and the one that they have recently switched to is SCEP. I tried installing SCEP on a MacBook that I had to reimage. I could not get SCEP to install on the newly installed Sierra system and the failed installation left some clear messages in the system logs which I forwarded to the university help desk. The help desk told to wait for a new release of SCEP. One of my most experienced Mac user installed SCEP under El Capitan and then upgraded to Sierra. That did seem to work but YMMV. I read somewhere (don't remember where) that last year SCEP support for El Capitan did not appear until January 15, 2016 (~4 months). I am stuck in this this limbo where I am required to get my users to run SCEP but if they buy a new Mac it can't be installed. If Microsoft does not address this soon, I will be strongly lobbying my University to choose another vendor. If they would even give some sort of release schedule that would be a big help. Right now I am stuck in this no mans land where my users want new Macs, new Macs come with Sierra, SCEP is required, SCEP won't install, and Microsoft has essentially no information about what to do (at least that I could find using obvious searches though not in Bing). Adding a little more detail to my earlier post above, as you've mentioned there appears to be some lag between the release of a new operating system version by Apple for the Mac and the related support for these by Microsoft within the System Center Endpoint Protection product. This blog article is the latest I could find regarding the previous release of. It includes a list of resources for the System Center product line which is a bit more extensive than others I've seen and may help you to find the most appropriate TechNet forums in which to post. Running a search in the TechNet SCCM forums for SCEP and MAC gives the following results list which may provide a starting point to learn whether others are already discussing this there. Another thing I've found is the current, which appears to support only Windows clients at present, though mention of a few Apple specific items is included on this and some of the other Technical Preview and Branch Version pages in the list at the end of the article. This delay in release of MAC clients actually makes sense, since the Microsoft development cycle will never perfectly mirror that for Apple, so there'd clearly be a lag between release of a new Apple product and the support from a 3rd-party such as Microsoft, whose primary focus would of course be their own products. This has always been an issue for those supporting both product lines and especially for education where this situation is common, since the choice is typically between supporting both product lines separately or together using the systems provided by the vendor representing the largest installed base. Buy Seagate Backup Plus Hub 8TB 2 x USB 3.0 Hard Drives - Desktop External STEL8000100 Black with fast shipping and top-rated customer service. Newegg shopping upgraded ™. Best Buy has honest and unbiased customer reviews for Seagate - Backup Plus Hub for Mac 8TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive - White. Read helpful. Reading Time: 3 minutes I will be the first to admit I’m a digital hoarder. I buy a ton of digital movies, music, and e-books. And while I don’t expect Apple or Amazon to go out of business, I don’t trust them to have the only copy of my digital purchase sitting in their cloud. I’m also a fan of local regular backups of our computers and devices. Our digital photo library? Backed up multiple times, onsite and offsite. So that means a lot of hard drives. At the moment, a quick survey shows nine external drives in active use in my office alone, with capacities ranging from 2TB to 6TB. And while I pretty much stuck to Western Digital drives for many years, last year I decided to try out a drive to store my iTunes media library., and he seemed pretty happy with it. Seagate’s Backup Plus Hub comes in Windows (Black) and Mac (White) versions. (Photo by Brad Moon) Why make the switch instead of sticking with the usual? Well, the dual USB 3.0 ports on the front of the drive enclosure were a big reason. The iMac that serves as the iTunes media server for the house does double-duty as my photo and video editing system. That means a lot of thumb drives and a USB-powered mic, but the iMac’s USB ports are around back and a big pain to access. I don’t want a USB hub cluttering my desktop, but adding the Seagate Backup Plus Hub to the existing external disk array behind the iMac isn’t a big deal. I only gained one additional port, but it’s all in the positioning because there are now two USB 3.0 ports that are easy to reach. And that makes a huge difference in usability. And as Mordechai pointed out, the Seagate drives have been very reasonably priced. That certainly helps. Seagate Backup Plus Hub for Mac (Photo by Brad Moon) My first version was a. That was kind of an impulse purchase because I should have chosen a higher capacity. However, after using it for six months, I’m pretty happy. That’s six months of fairly heavy duty use. There are five Apple TVs and countless iPhones, iPods, iPads, and Macs in the house that regularly stream content from this drive—much of that HD video. Often with multiple simultaneous streams. It’s performed perfectly. That’s not surprising since its predecessor (the Backup Plus) regularly placed at or near the top of. Seagate doesn’t publish what type of drive is actually in these things, but given the relatively compact physical size and low price, it’s safe to say you won’t find BarraCuda Pro inside if you crack the case open. Whatever it is, the read (and write) speed—which the company says maxes out at 160MB/s—is more than zippy enough for this purpose. Cooling is passive, so there’s no fan noise. And although the only cooling is through vents in the bottom (that grill pattern you see on top is cosmetic), I haven’t noticed the drive getting particularly warm. Power is supplied via a modestly-sized power brick, which means needing an electrical outlet, but it does help reduce heat inside the drive case. The front USB ports have worked well, with full speed data access and the ability to power accessories like the Blue Snowball Mic. When I needed to move to a larger capacity drive, I went with a 6TB Backup Plus Hub for Windows, which is currently (MSRP is $229). Great price, but they don’t offer a Mac version in that capacity. I have to put up with a shiny black finish instead of matte white, but after re-formatting it for Mac there’s no functional difference. Seagate does include a cross-platform driver, but I’d rather not complicate my system any more than I need to. The best feature is the namesake “hub” that offers two easily accessible USB 3.0 ports. (Photo by Brad Moon) Speaking of inclusions, Seagate also offers free backup software and two months of free Adobe Creative Cloud, but I wasn’t really interested in either of those. It was all about the storage. And the ports. The only issue I have with the Backup Plus Hub drives is that they use Seagate’s proprietary USB connector. Naturally, a “Seagate to USB-A” cable is included in the box, but while I have a shoebox full of regular USB cables, I don’t have any spares of that proprietary Seagate variety. If you need to pick up some cheap and speedy mass storage, the Seagate Backup Plus Hub (available in 4TB, 6TB, 8TB and 10TB) capacities is worth considering—especially if your computer setup could benefit from a pair of easy access USB 3.0 ports. Did you notice how long it takes for the drive to spin up from sleep? If you've bought Valve's or have a cheap living room PC tucked into your entertainment center, it's time to set up Steam In-Home Streaming. Streaming is Valve's solution for running a game on your beefy desktop PC, encoding it as a video signal, and sending that video signal to another system on the same network. Think of it as Netflix being broadcast inside your house, with your Steam library (and non-Steam games you add to your library--many of them will work too!) standing in for all those movies and TV shows. Here's what you need to know to set up your Steam Link or In-Home Streaming PC, and what you need to know to configure it for the best performance. Note: With the Steam Link, Steam Controller and Steam Machines finally here, we've updated this guide. What do I need for in-home streaming? While streaming, you run a game on your PC much like you normally would—it displays on your monitor and can be controlled with your keyboard and mouse—and then Steam captures the data from that game and beams the audio/video signal to another PC! With in-home streaming, you can run Windows games on a Mac or Linux PC, run demanding games on an older laptop, or simply stream to a miniature PC in your living room. The absolute basics you'll need: • A host PC (like your gaming rig) running Steam on Windows • A Steam Link or client PC in the living room (smaller/weaker/cheaper) running Steam on Windows, OS X or Linux/ • A home network that can connect the two Now let's get a little more specific. What kind of hardware do you realistically need to run in-home streaming? The host PC Your host PC should be powerful enough to run a game while simultaneously encoding it as a video signal. For best results, this would have: • A quad core CPU (such as an Intel i5 or i7 processor from 2011 or newer) • An Nvidia 600 series GPU or newer, or an AMD 7000 series GPU or newer. Why those cards? Because in-home streaming now supports hardware encoding on both Nvidia and AMD card. The Nvidia GTX 650 and above support hardware encoding; see for a full list of the supported AMD cards. Steam also works with Mac, Windows PC and Linux, so it’s impressively cross-platform. If you’re a computer gamer, it’ll run on your computer, and do a good job. Like an iTunes Store redemption code, however, you can’t really redeem the Steam code without having Steam installed and running on your system, and without you then also. I've successfully used Steam in-home streaming with an overclocked 4.3GHz Sandy Bridge i5 2500k CPU and an AMD 7870 card (which doesn't support hardware encoding). So you definitely don't need an Nvidia card. In fact, Intel's built-in HD Graphics GPUs also support hardware encoding with Quick Sync, so you may be able to stream a game without a dedicated GPU at all. If you are trying in-home streaming with an AMD card, but do have an Intel CPU, you should make sure Quick Sync is enabled on your computer.. The client PC or Steam Link Valve's Steam Link is an easy choice for a client device. It's small, cheap at $50, and can handle streaming with no performance issues. It can also connect to multiple Steam controllers wirelessly, without the need for a dongle. All you need to support the Steam controller is an HDMI cable to your TV, and wired or wireless Internet. We strongly recommend wired. The great thing about streaming is that your host PC is doing the brunt of the work. Ideally, you can stream to some crappy old laptop or a cheap, low-power living room machine. But your client machine still needs to be powerful enough to handle decoding the video signal Steam is sending it. Valve recommends a client with a GPU that can decode H.264 video. Again, Intel's processors with HD Graphics can decode video using Quick Sync, so you may not even need a separate GPU. Any Nvidia or AMD graphics card you can get your hands on should support hardware decoding. The network You want a router that doesn't crash on you all the time. Ideally, it has gigabit (not 100 Mbps) ports, although the Steam Link only has a 100 Mbps port on it. There's a whole section on the requirements and configuration of your home network below. |
